Toonami Returns May 26

Beginning Saturday May 26, Adult Swim revives the action-packed anime block Toonami.

Toonami aired a tidal wave of action-oriented cartoons on Cartoon Network for over a decade starting in the late 90’s. The block introduced a huge list of anime powerhouses to the US geek market including Sailor Moon, Dragon Ball Z, Gundam Wing and Cowboy Bebop.

Not much has been said about the block’s schedule, but Adult Swim released that “new original anime programming for fans” is being developed. Previous series might return (fingers crossed).

Toonami is expected to show every Saturday night / Sunday morning from midnight to 6 am. Adult Swim is the adult oriented cable network that shares channel space with Cartoon Network.

Cartoon Network brought back Toonami for a one-night affair on April Fool’s day with reruns of classics including Dragon Ball Z, Tenchi Muyo!, and Outlaw Star. Since then, fans have been screaming tweeting for its return.

What do you want to see on the new Toonami lineup? Let us know in the comments.
