GAMESCOM 2013

Gamescom in Cologne, Germany has just ended and a ton of news has come out of that massive convention: of which I might add has seen it’s highest numbers hitting over 340,000 attendees. What we’ve got here is a list of everything that happened at Gamescom 2013! This list will be broken down by publisher so that you can quickly find the information that matters to you!

Sony:
Gran Turismo 6 got a release date and that day is December 6,2013 on the PS3. There were no announcements of a PS4 or a Vita version though was some speculation that there might be.

LittleBigPlanet Hub: A Free-to-Play version of Sony’s famous create-play-share franchise is coming to PS3 later this year. This will allow players full access to the create mode and LBP 1&2 opening levels which in total is 16 levels as well as some costumes to start with.

The Vita has just got a price drop. Now placing it at a more competitive $199.99: the same price and the 3DS XL. They also announced price drops to the Vita memory card. 32GB-$79.99, 16GB-$39.99, 8GB-$19.99, and 4GB-$14.99.

Borderlands 2 is coming to Vita! That’s right, GearBox’s open-world FPS RPG loot hunting mayhem is coming to Sony’s handheld and that couldn’t be more exciting! Theres currently no release date or whether or not you’ll be able to bring your character over from the PS3 version OR! if the DLC will come on the Vita version. Still Im very excited about this!

Sony loves indie’s and they showed it! Heres of list of Indie games who’s console version will release exclusively on the PS4 and Playstation Vita.
Rouge Legacy Will come to PS4 and Vita.
Binding of Isaac: Rebirth will come to PS4 and Vita and will be free for Playstation Plus
subscribers.

Rime is coming to PS4.
Resogun is coming PS4 and will be avalible at launch.
Helldiver is coming PS3, Vita, and PS4.
Minecraft is coming PS3, Vita, PS4 and will be available at launch.

None of these games Have a release date, but most will come out next year unless specified
otherwise.

Sony announced a free-top-play online plane combat game coming to PS4 titled War Thunder. War Thunder will be available at launch.

All PS4 for games can be played on Vita using the Remote Play function unless that game requires you to use the Playstation eye.

The Playstation 4 will be available in 32 territories. It will be launch on November 15, 2013 in America and November 29, 2013 in Europe and the remming territories.

Microsoft:
Fable legends is four player co-op RPG with players playing as heroes with a fifth player playing on “Smart Glass” as the villain.

The Fighter within is Kinect fighting game coming to the Xboxone. The Figher Within will be avalible at launch.

Microsoft announced there would be exclusive content for the Xboxone of Tom Clancy’s The Division, but gave no specifics as to what those exclusives were.

Cobalt is coming to Xboxone. Cobalt Comes to us from Mojang, creators of Minecraft.

Using the power of the “Xbox Live cloud” Call of Duty Ghosts will have dedicated severs on Xboxone.

For European customers who pre-order an Xboxone will receive a copy of Fifa 14 for free.

Kinects sports rivals is the new kinect sports gaming coming to the Xboxone.

Killer Instinct for the Xboxone got a pricing model and what would be included at each tear. The $20 price model will include 6 characters, arcade mode, training mode, and vs mode with 2 extra characters coming a later date as well as story mode. At $40 the customer will receive all the pre-mentioned goodies as well new character skins with hints that they might pay homage to the original killer instinct such as with a classic Jago skin. They would also receive the original Killer Instinct emulated to play on the Xboxone. There are still talks of whether online will work with with this emulated version, but they are trying. There is also talks of releasing another season (what they’re calling it the game with the at 8 characters as it is) in winter 2014.

Since there was really no formal showing from Microsoft at Gamescom, they chose to spend there time really just hanging with the fans, showing off things that already had and making little announcements such as Fable legends.

3rd Parties:
Batman Arkham Origins shown Batman’s newest foe, Firefly. Adding yet another villain to the already steep cast of rouges announced including Penguin, Joker, Bane, Deadshot, Deathstroke, Copperhead (a new female version if you weren’t aware) and now Firefly. Batman Arkham Origins releases October 25, 2013.

Castlevania Lords of Shadow 2 gets a release date. It will come to PS4 and Xbox360 on February 25,2013. They briefly mentioned that Castlevania mirror of fate, the 3DS Castlevania game from ealier this year would be coming to PS3 and Xbox360 on halloween this year in HD.

Blizzard, while at Gamescom hinted that there would be an announcement for it’s next World of Warcraft expansion pack at blizzcon 2013 this year.

Diablo 3 is getting an Expansion pack titled the Reaper of Souls. The expansion includes an increased level cap, new enemies and areas, new game modes, and a new character class called the Crusader.

Eve VR, the Ocolus test game made by the guys at CCP has now turned into a full blown game called EVE Valkyrie. There is no release date, but it will be released in 2014 and will definitely require an Oculus Rift to play it.

Gamescom was one hell of convention where I genuinely feel that Sony had the strongest showing. Where Microsoft should they were working to get Indie Devs on their side, Sony showed proof that they had the Indie’s already with the massive amount of indie titles coming to their consoles.

Sony is continuing to pull out head of Microsoft at ever turn. Xboxone has really interesting titles such as Titanfall, Dead Rising 3, and Killer Instinct, but at a price point that $100 more expensive than it’s competitor and also having retracted its message so far to the point that it practically follows its competitors message, I don’t see how they are going to win the hardcore gamer back. We still have a couple months before these consoles release so we’ll just have to wait and see.
