EXPCon Returns to St. Augustine this Weekend

EXPCon was a video game fan convention that was popular in Jacksonville, and ran for five years. Then, with no real explanation, EXPCon just disappeared. There have been rumors that have built up over the years about what had happened. The only thing that is for certain is that EXPCon returns this weekend, this time in St. Augustine, FL at the St. Johns County Convention Center at the Renaissance Resort at World Golf Village.

During October 27th to October 29th, EXPCon will have fan-driven panels, contests, costuming events, artist alley, vendor room, dances and other live music, video game room, and of course video game tournaments.

Their focus this year are bringing the star voice actors of Square Enix’s Final Fantasy XV, notably Doug Cockle, Adam Croasdell, Christopher Parson, Ray Chase, Robbie Daymond, and Keythe Farley. The video game comedy group Mega64 will also be there, as well as the legendary video game influenced hip hop artist Mega Ran.

The weirdest thing about this convention is that we are days away and still no full schedule posted anywhere to see, other than main events. If I were running panels, I would be pissed because there isn’t even a panelist schedule posted.Promotion seems to be very minor as well. Mega Ran was only confirmed this past weekend (which I only know because he told me), but they didn’t event announce him. I have been told that is was once the best convention in Florida, but we will see how it goes this weekend.

Weekend passes for EXPCon are $50. Friday and Sunday are $25 and Saturday is $35. Staying at the Renaissance Resort gets you a free weekend pass as an option. St. Johns County Convention Center is located at 500 S Legacy Trl, St Augustine, FL 32092.
