The Vans Warped Tour 2013

Sunday, July 28th was the Vans Warped Tour 2013 at the Orlando Florida Fairgrounds. I haven’t attended a Warped Tour show since 1998 so it’s been a long while for me, but I thought it would be fun to hang out, watch some bands, get some interviews and people watch.

If you live in Florida you know that the weather here can suck most of the time especially during the summer so sometimes an outdoor show can be hit or miss according to how Florida decides to play it’s cards within the weather system and this day was no different.

At a certain point in life I think your body just figures out that it’s tired of rain and sunburns, and going to shows. As one get’s older and is still going to shows it seems that the new generation of concert goers just seems to look at us older individuals as not peers who at one time completed the cycle of a music genre, or maybe a few, but more so look at us as whose parent’s we may be and which kid(s) are we picking up from the show, and we get these looks whether we have kids or not.

Despite all my bitching, I have to say that this day was a good day. It had been a while since I had been to a show and I think that I needed the day off to go out listen to some bands. This years Vans Warped Tour consisted of many bands which I only had a chance to see a handful of.

Here is a small list of the bands I got to check out.

1. August Burns Red
2. Bowling For Soup
3. Chiodos
4. Crossfaith
5. Hey Ocean
6. MC Lars
7. Run DMT
8. Texas In July
9. The Amity Affliction
10. The Indecent
11. Wallpaper

These are just a few of the bands I got to see, most of which were pretty good but eventually the rain came and people ran all over the place. I just ended up backstage and under a giant tarp where all the tour buses were parked and got to talk to some of the bands. When the rain went away the show was back on and the sun was double hot.

I have to say that most of the bands were very cool. I got to meet Jake Luhrs vocalist of August Burns Red who is a super nice guy, and I also met the band The Indecent, who are real cool kids and a great band. They were actually my favorite band that I saw that day, and I also got an interview with them which will be posted after this report.

All the bands put on great sets and throughout the rain, and heat and all my complaining I did have a good time, and the opportunity to meet some cool people. The best part about shows like the Warped Tour is that even someone my age can get out and enjoy a gaggle of bands for the day, hang out and get loud and boisterous.

I leave you now with a Vans Warped Tour 2013 picture gallery. Until next year..
