Winter is coming to the PC, PS3 and Xbox360 as “Game of Thrones“ the video game hits US stores May 15. Having pierced the mainstream with its epic HBO adaptation, George R.R. Martin’s fantasy series “A Song of Ice and Fire” is now being introduced to the gaming scene in the form of — of course — an RPG.
According to its developers Cyanide Studios, the “Game of Thrones” RPG transports players into new adventures set in Martin’s fantasy franchise world of the Seven Kingdoms. Still taking place at around the same time of the series, players will be able to meet and greet with the main characters of the saga.
The new adventure allows gamers to play the roles of Allester the red priest and Mors the night watchman – two new characters to the realm whose adventures parallel with the first book of the series titled “A Game of Thrones.”
Last Friday, the game received a new trailer from Cyanide Studios titled “Behind the Wall,” a pseudo-diary telling the story of how the RPG was created, with emphases on rich character development and integration into Martin’s world.
Although bummed that interaction in the RPG with the characters we hate to love or love to hate from the literary and HBO series sounds limited, truth being told any fan of the book or series should be excited for the game. Pick up your copy and tell us what you think.
