Major League Wrestling Returns with MLW: One Shot

A new chapter in the history of professional wrestling in Florida will be written on Thursday, October 5th in Orlando as Major League Wrestling returns with MLW: One Shot at GILT Nightclub. The lineup will feature wrestlers who have competed all over the world, including aerial artist Ricochet (aka Prince Puma on Lucha Underground), former UCF fighters Tom Lawlor and Seth Petruzelli, former Olympic wrestler Jeff Cobb, Mae Young Classic competitors Santana Garrett and Mia Yim, and many more wrestlers who are on the path to become the stars of tomorrow.

To give a brief background, Major League Wrestling started as an independent wrestling promotion shortly after the end of pro wrestling’s “Monday Night Wars,” which featured the likes of C.M. Punk, Daniel Bryan, Christopher Daniels, Roderick Strong, Steve Corino, Satoshi Kojima, Chris Hero, and many more who would shape what professional wrestling is today. It had a vibe comparable to ECW, but MLW as a wrestling promotion did not last long. Years later, MLW rebranded as a hit wrestling podcast network, with shows hosted by Bruce Prichard, Eric Bischoff, Conrad Thompson, Tony Schiavone, Mister Saint Laurent, MVP, Jim Cornette, and former WWE writers such as Alex Greenfield and MLW founder Court Bauer.

This success led to a partnership with hip hop artist Wale and the creation of the epic Walemania pre-party for WrestleMania weekend. Teaming with Wale again, MLW has been resurrected for one night only to once again shape the future of professional wrestling! The card below looks very stellar.

Ricochet vs. Shane “Swerve” Strickland

MVP vs. Sami Callihan
Jeff Cobb vs. “Filthy” Tom Lawlor
Santana Garrett vs. Mia Yim
Jason Cade vs. Darby Allen
MJF vs. Jimmy Yuta

In addition to the announced matches, former UFC fighter Seth Petruzelli, plus rising independent wrestlers Rhett Giddins, Martin Stone, and Barrington Hughes are scheduled to compete. I have not been this excited about going to a wrestling show in a very long time and every match on this card is looking to deliver something special. There is something special about high-level independent wrestling that you don’t see anywhere else, especially in corporate wrestling. If you are tired of what you are seeing on Monday and Tuesday night, MLW: One-Shot is going to be a breath of fresh air and then some.

Tickets for MLW: One-Shot start at $15. Bell time is 6:55pm. GILT Nightclub is located at 740 Bennet Rd, Orlando, FL 32803, right by the Orlando Fashion Square mall and minutes away from downtown Orlando. If you can not be there live, the show will air later on, with commentary provided by former NXT/WWE announcer Rich Buccini and former voice of WCW, Tony Schiavone.
