Thank You Ralph McQuarrie

I’m sure that many of you heard the news over the weekend that legendary concept artist Ralph McQuarrie died at the age of 82. Before we get into that, I wanted to simply say “thank you Ralph for the all of the incredible work and lifelong inspiration you have given us.”!

As a life long Star Wars fan, it’s hard to ignore the influence and the vision that he brought to life. I mean, honestly, without him at the helm, Star Wars would have looked like Battle Beyond the Stars.

His shear talent alone is one of the main reasons why I, and so many others, are fanboys of ANYTHING. From the 1970’s through to the 90’s his work stood alone. He set the stage for the entire look of Star Wars universe which is still used today.

But he didn’t stop there, oh no. The scope of his work included all of the Star Wars films, the Battlestar Galactica TV series, Back the Future series, Close Encounters, E.T., Forbidden Planet, Masters of the Universe, Raiders of the Lost Ark, Star Trek, Cherry 2000 and Total Recall just to name a few.

Take a gander at the gallery and be amazed at what he was able to create with paint and imagination. Such amazing work!

What a bummer about McQuarrie. I used to have a Star Wars book of his that I looked at for hours.
