Price $24.95

IMG_20150722_204052Fantasy Crate is a monthly Magic: The Gathering subscription service that comes in two varieties. The first option is the “Magic Crate” that includes at least 3 MTG packs plus other Magic-related collectibles. And there’s the “Draft Crate” which includes 6 packs MTG packs and a MTG gear item like sleeves, dice or a deck box.

Fantasy Crate arrived in a large well-padded envelope.

May’s Draft Crate included 3 packs of Khans of Tarkir, 3 packs of Dragons of Tarkir and 80 imported card sleeves.

2 packs of the final Magic: The Gathering core set, Magic Origins. Origins focuses on the beginnings of the 5 main Planeswalkers. Some interesting pulls with the big one being The Great Aurora (Mythic Rare) and the Hexproof-granting artifact Orbs of Warding (Rare).

4 packs of the Dragons of Tarkir expansion. Some decent pulls here with a Descent of the Dragons (Mythic Rare), Ojutai’s Command (Rare), Surrak the Hunt-Caller (Rare) and one of my favorite cards, Servant of the Scale (Common).

The majority of my main deck (Green/White Counters) is Dragons of Tarkir with some Khans and Fate Reforged mixed in. It’s pretty much the set that pulled me back in after not playing for nearly 15 years.

IMG_20150722_204654KMC Hyper Matte Sleeves

A pack of 80 high quality imported matte sleeves in a dark green color. Matte vs glossy sleeves doesn’t seem like a big deal until your glossy sleeves start to stick together and your deck becomes nearly unshuffleable. It’s true what they say, once you go “matte” you don’t go back.

IMG_20150722_204727

IMG_20150722_204637As always Fantasy Crate’s monthly Draft Crate included 6 Magic: The Gathering Booster Packs (4 Dragons of Tarkir and 2 Origins) and the bonus item was a pack of matte sleeves. The Draft Crate isn’t as flashy as their Magic Crate but it’s still a solid & reliable value with $35 of value for under $30 including shipping.
