Hacktivist is a popular cyber-thriller series that made its debut in 2014, and focuses on the story of two friends, Nate Graft and Ed Hiccox, who founded a state-of-the-art social networking site called YourLife. Hacktivist gained popularity because of its deep roots in topics like social media and cyber crime. Fans have been buzzing with anticipation for the sequel, which presents a strong first issue.

On an ordinary morning, several people wake up in their homes with a frightening message on their smart-phones, “Congratulations, we have control of your phone.” The hack calls for the death of Nate Graft and a demand for justice for the death of Ed Hiccox, the hackers identify themselves as “sve_Urs3lf.” The funny thing is, all of the targeted people were wealthy, white males and they all had YourLife accounts. Nate Graft is tasked with finding out the source of the hacks and figuring out how to stop them, even if it means playing hardball. When Graft gets home late at night he is surprised to find Hiccox waiting for him, having thwarted Graft’s expensive security detail. Hiccox explains where he’s been for the past six months, and how these new dangerous hackers stole Hiccox and Graft’s “sve_Urs3lf” label. Unfortunately, the homes of the targeted people who had their phones hacked all explode at the same time, and billows of smoke are seen rising in the city from Graft’s home.

This issue boasts in superb storytelling, creating suspense and intrigue as the scenes change. The writing is slightly choppy, causing interruptions to the story flow. The artwork is wonderful, with realistic style and brilliant use of colors. Hacktivist delivers on the popular story of Graft and Hiccox, and conveying new twists on the fascinating world of cyber-crime and hacktivist revolutionaries.
