Horror Block December 2014

Subscription Box Horror Block

Theme “The Pop Horror Subscription Box!”

Price $19.99 / month (additional cost for larger shirt sizes)

Shipping $9.50 US / $8.75 Canada

IMG_20141006_213513Horror Block is Nerd Block’s horror-themed mystery box that every month includes a t-shirt and a selection of toys & collectibles.

The box is about the size of a large shoe box and features “bloody” packaging with “blood soaked” packing tape.

November’s Horror Block was Hannibal-heavy but also included a rad Elm Street film cell. Let’s see the horror of this month’s box!

IMG_20150105_132958Rue Morgue

After Horror Block switched to Fangoria for September and October, it was surprising to see a return to Rue Morgue. No complaints from me, i’m a big fan of Rue.

Awesome celebration of the Ghostbusters anniversary in this issue.

Retail: $9.95

Poltergeist Mousepad

Needless to say, it’s been awhile since I’ve held a mousepad in person. It’s a standard mousepad featuring the iconic image from Poltergeist.

Retail: $6.99 (Estimated)

IMG_20150105_133133Maggot Eye Skeleton

This squeeze-toy stress reliever looks a lot like a fetus. When you squeeze the head, the eye fills up with maggots.

Retail: $9.99 (Estimated)

IMG_20150105_132910Zomb-Ease Hand Sanitizer

It’s zombie-themed hand sanitizer.

Retail: $1.99 (Estimated)

IMG_20150105_133246The Shining “Overlook Hotel” T-Shirt

Without a doubt my favorite item this month. This Shining T-Shirt has the carpet design fading behind a Overlook Hotel logo on top of the maze.

I love this shirt.

Retail: $14.99 (Estimated)

IMG_20150105_133407Funko POP! Creature From The Black Lagoon

Every Horror Block this month included one of the 5 Universal Monster POP! figures.

Retail: $10.99

IMG_20150105_133838December’s box includes an estimated $55 worth of horror items! I don’t collect Funko POP’s so I wasn’t super excited about this month’s box but the T-Shirt is awesome. Considering the subscription pays for the T-Shirt & the magazine, it’s a solid value even if you’re not a fan of the extras.

In addition to the Horror Block, they also offer also Nerd Block Classic (“Comic Con in a box, plus a shirt, monthly!”), Nerd Block Jr. (“Awesome nerd gear for kids aged 6 to 11”) for boys and girls and the Arcade Block video game mystery box.

Disclosure: A complimentary Horror Block Subscription Box was given for review purposes. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received.
