IMG_20150126_013507The Florida-based IndieBox is a subscription box meets a video game of the month club. Each month they offer a different and new game (always playable on PC, Linux & Mac). With a goal of “bringing back the box” you get a custom box, manual and other goodies like posters, keychains, stickers (varying monthly).

Each IndieBox is shipped in a plain white mailer that’s about the size of a small Priority Mail Flat Rate Box.

December’s IndieBox was Rogue Legacy, a creative platformer that came with an impressive amount of items in the box.

Upon opening the box I was surprised to find a SNES-styled USB controller sitting on top of the game. Features the IndieBox logo on the front and the Super Win the Game logo on the back. The controller has been pre-mapped to SWtG so you can plug and play.

Awesome SNES-styled gamebox in size and look. To emphasis how much of a limited edition this was, the box is individually numbered out of 1,250.

IMG_20150126_014721USB Cartridge

IndieBox’s trademark credit card-sized USB game “cartridge”.

Included Steam Key is on a stricker outside of the box incase you want to keep it sealed.

The instruction manual and newsletter are combined into a retro strategy guide.

Two stickers included, the classic indiebox logo and a Super Win the Game logo.

IMG_20150126_014414Cloth Map

A cloth map showing the land of Super Win the Game.

IMG_20150126_0143173D Glasses

Exclusive to IndieBox’s release of Super Win the Game is the Anaglyph Rendering Mode. With the mode enabled and the 3D glasses on, you can play the game with a 3D-like view.

IMG_20150126_013944CD Soundtrack

Full CD soundtrack in a glossy sleeve.

This open world platformer has a Zelda-like feel to it but with a unique retro-styled charm. If you find the game a little hard, you can start from anywhere you last rung a bell. Luckily there’s bells everywhere!

BONUS GAME: ClusterPuck 99

As a bonus, the entire CluserPuck 99 game is included on the USB cartridge.

Super Win the Game: Soundtrack Edition (the game included here) retails on Steam for $14.99. With IndieBox you’re getting an exclusive game add-on (3D mode), 3D Glasses, a controller, a map, 2 stickers, a cartridge, box, manual & soundtrack for only $8 more.

As usual, IndieBox is a great value for gamers. If you’re into video games and/or subscription boxes, I highly recommend Indiebox.

Disclosure: A complimentary IndieBox was given for review purposes. All opinions are my own and no compensation was received.
