A big thanks to Marvel for letting us review the Ant-Man Bluray before it’s out on Tuesday!

Shiny cardboard slipcover features Paul Rudd shrinking as Ant-Man. Actual case insert cover is the same image but with less clutter. Includes a disc on each side and a paper insert with the digital code.

Instead of building an Ant-Man movie entirely around the original Ant-Man Hank Pym, Marvel Studios fast forwarded things a bit by using the story from Marvel Premiere #47 “To Steal An Ant-Man”. In that particular story an ex-con named Scott Lang steals the Ant-Man suit from Pym who has by then been long established as Ant-Man to help his daughter. The movie’s story is very similar with an older Pym (Michael Douglas), and his daughter Hope (Evangeline Lily). With the help of Pym, Hope and hilarious side characters like Luis (Michael Peña) and Dave (T.I.), manages to become a hero to himself and his daughter. The movie’s villain Yellowjacket (Corey Stoll) is very similar to Jeff Bridge’s Obidiah Stane but still had some great moments and a pretty cool suit. With a great blend of comedy and action, it’s easily one of my favorite films in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

01Extras/Bonus Features

This combo pack has a lot of cool bonus features like “Making of An Ant-Sized Heist” which covers a lot of the making of the film. Another great piece was “Let’s Go To The Macroverse” which covered the work put into filming the small-sized scenes. There’s also a Gag Reel and WHIH News Clips featuring Scott Lang (Paul Rudd), the heist and Corey Stoll’s (Yellowjacket) characters.

There’s also a multitude of deleted and extended scenes from the movie itself.

If you’re a fan of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Paul Rudd or just fun action comedies in general then you should rent or buy Ant-Man. With this combo pack including 3D, Bluray and even a digital HD copy that you can watch on just about any device, it covers pretty much all your options.

Disclosure: A complimentary Ant-Man Combo Pack was given for review purposes. All opinions are my own.
